In reply to <a href="https://thereadingwife.com/revival-a-stephen-king-novel/#comment-51">Smita</a>.

I loved The Shining! Easily a favorite of mine, but it definitely had the creepy factor going quite well there. Revival is a lot more in line with 11/22/63 though. Good captivating story, but not creepy. I think if using The Shining and 11/22/63 as the benchmarks, you'll like Revival.

Books with mixed reviews are often quite interesting as, like in this case, there is something different about them. It definitely sounds interesting - I love novels with strong characters. Although I read a lot, I've never actually picked up a Stephen King novel, maybe something to change this winter!

Love love love King! Though I try and avoid his horror books - they scare me too much! That's the reason I haven't read The Shining. My favourites of his are The Stand and 11/22/63. Both have a great narrative and interesting characters, and not at all creepy.
How creepy would you characterise Revival to be? Would perhaps then decide if I can read it or not!

I am definitely a Stephen King fan, but I haven't read Revival yet. I found that I was hesitant with all of the mixed reviews - I couldn't help but feel like there was a chance that I would be left completely disappointed in it. However, I think might have to give it a try. It's good to know, going into it, that there's a chance that I'm going to feel like the ending falls short. At least then I am starting off with realistic expectations.

Stephen King has been hit and miss for me. Some of his books I've loved and the others I couldn't finish. I am one of those readers who don't finish every book they start. I love character lead books and the creepy factor isn't a driver for me (although I do expect it when I pick up King) Your review has piqued my interest enough to download a sample to my Kindle.

I haven’t heard of Revival by Stephen King. It sounds good but its always a shame when a good book has an underwhelming ending. I might still check it out.

I have not read this novel. - But after reading the review for this I think my mother in law would enjoy this book. She really enjoys Stephen King books.
