Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat
Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. This is the third story in a six part series called Wildwood Valley Brides.
I originally discovered Lilah Hart’s writing on Amazon, in a section designated for short stories that take less than an hour to read. Until I started looking around, I had no idea the “one hour read” category was even a thing.

Recently I’ve been reading heavier novels, like Broken Wings, and I find myself needing something short, cozy, and fun, specifically needing a happily ever after ending. When reading heavy novels that have ugly endings, I need a change of pace for my own sanity.
Lilah Hart’s short stories provide exactly that for me. They are perfect in that regard, and a big part of why I enjoy them so much. Lilah Hart and her stories are rapidly becoming a staple here in my blog, and I’m excited to share them with you.
Have you read Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat? Come on in and let me tell you about it!

About Wildwood Valley Brides
Welcome to Wildwood Valley, where the mountains are rugged, the men are rough, and the women are…missing.
This quiet mountain town has a problem: too many single ex-Navy SEALs and not a single woman in sight. The guys prefer it that way—until a nosy innkeeper secretly signs them up for a mail-order bride service.
One by one, the brides start arriving—sweet, sassy, wide-eyed women who have no idea just how off-the-grid and alpha their new husbands really are.
The mountain men didn’t ask for wives.
But that won’t stop them from keeping them.
About Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat
She came to sell jelly, not fall for a mountain man. But one spark changes everything.
My main goal is to sell my jellies at Wildwood Valley’s weekend farmer’s market.
Just a couple of problems with that. One, Wildwood Valley doesn’t have a farmer’s market. The innkeeper plans to set up a table in front of the pancake restaurant for me and only me.
Second problem? The hunky mountain man I’m supposed to marry is drop-dead gorgeous. I’m drawn to him in ways I’d never imagined. And suddenly, my thoughts of exiting town if things don’t work out for my business are gone with the wind.
Suddenly, all I can think about is finding reasons to stay.
Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat
In this story we meet Jareth and Whitley.
Whitley reminds me a lot of myself. She has lists, goals, and ambitions, while still trying to keep one foot out the door just in case things go sideways. She is a planner, and probably an overthinker at the same time.
Jareth, he doesn’t get much time in the spotlight in terms of character development and having his own story. He kind of shows up and goes along with everything. This story is definitely a Whitley-centered story.
But it works, and it is still fun. I love seeing Whitley get her farm stand in town, and people lining up to buy the things she’s made. That is a favorite for me, to see her be successful.
Final Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat
I’m calling Mountain Man’s Mail Order Treat a four star read. It wasn’t my favorite in the series, but that’s okay. There was nothing wrong with it, and it gave me the quick, fun, happily ever after ending I was craving. Which is exactly what counts for me.
I’m looking forward to reading the next stories in this series from Lilah Hart. I love that she has a number of series published, but they can all be read as stand alone stories, and nothing needs to be read in order.
Her stories are also an excellent way to utilize my Kindle Unlimited subscription, and I’m rapidly coming to appreciate that more and more. If you need a break from darker stories, or just want something that is a quick hour-long read, check out any and all of Lilah Hart’s romance stories. You can’t go wrong with any of them. I’m slowly making my way through all of her stories to share with you here, and I’m excited about it.
