Thoughts on The Netherlands: Land of My Dreams

The first thing that caught my attention with this book is the cover. It isn’t the same cover as her previous books. This one popped and is an eye catcher. I know that a lot of care and love went into creating this cover alone and Ann Marie was very critical of it. That tells me right there that she cared about this book and it had to be perfect.

Because of past conversations with Ann Marie, I knew The Netherlands held a very special place in her heart and somewhere she would love to live permanently. Seeing this book being published was a very big deal and I was excited to read it. I wanted to learn more about her travels and journey through the place she fell in love with and through her eyes.

The Netherlands: Land of my Dreams is the ultimate tour guide for an incredible country. Ann Marie Ruby talks about the history, how to travel within The Netherlands, food, and so much more.

What interested me in reading this was that Ann Marie talked about not only how easy it is to travel within The Netherlands, but how safe it is. She and I are about the same age, and I can say with full confidence that I’m not one to travel very far on my own. It is actually part of the reason that I’m looking at moving in the near future. So this held a particular interest to me, that she felt so safe in a foreign country on her own.

Final Thoughts on The Netherlands: Land of My Dreams

After both reading this book and chatting with Ann Marie about her travels, The Netherlands seems like a pretty incredible place, welcoming everyone. To me, this feels like the kind of place I want to go visit. Where the people are just great all around. This is the kind of place and people that restore my faith in humanity.

This isn’t the typical Ann Marie Ruby book, yet it is still unmistakably her voice and her writing. I highly recommend it! Her views on this amazing country really inspired me to want to visit and see everything she loves about it firsthand. I need to book a flight now!

This is the second book I’ve read so far this year, keeping in line with my goal of one book a month. I must admit I’m loving my choices of books so far this year, and this one did not disappoint!

I hope you enjoy this amazing Ann Marie Ruby novel as much as I have!

It is interesting to see an author like Ann Marie Ruby write a travel guide. It’s great that you got to chat with her and I assume get some behind the scenes information as well.

I’ve spent a day in Amsterdam as result of a layover delay and it is truly an amazing city. Beautiful, the people are lovely, and yes — it feels very safe. That’s a really big consideration for most women and I bet more of us would travel on our own if that consideration could be addressed. Looks like a lovely book.

I’ve never been to the Netherlands, but the area has always fascinated me. I’ve heard great things about not only the area/sites but also about the people. It’s definitely on my ‘bucket list’ of places to visit, so I think I need to check this book out!

I have never read a book by Ann Marie Ruby, but this definitely sounds worth a read! I’ve never actually been to the Netherlands, despite it being so close by. Except for having a Dutch schoolmate, I don’t know anything about the country, which is why this book could be a great fit for me.
