Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey

Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. This is story number four in a six part series called Wildwood Valley Harvest from author Lilah Hart.

I first discovered Lilah Hart and her short stories when I read the Wildwood Valley Brides series, and this is series number three to be checked off my list now. I think I have a soft spot for all of her stories that are based in Wildwood Valley. I’ve become a big fan of her short stories, especially as a break in between heavier novels.

I was excited to start reading this series, because autumn is right around the corner. Which means hoodies, soup, and football for me. I love a good short story because I end up spending more time than usual watching television because of football. Speaking of which, Go Ducks! I also watch professional football as well as college.

Short stories are perfect during this time, because I am still reading, but able to shift how much time I devote to reading versus watching TV, without giving either one up.

I’m also starting to tailor my book choices to fit more into the holiday themes, and really enjoying it. I never knew why readers did this until I started, and now I want to do it constantly.

At the time of publishing this review, all of Lilah Hart’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited, which is an excellent way to utilize my subscription instead of forgetting about it month after month despite the fact I’m paying for it.

One reluctant rescue leads to unexpected hayride duties, which leads to the kind of chemistry that could set the whole mountain on fire. But I’m just passing through his small town, and he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with festival chaos.

So why does he keep finding excuses to be around me?

When Clayton dares me to stick around for a private hayride after closing time, I should say no. I should definitely say no.

But I’ve never backed down from a dare.

Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey

In Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey we meet Clayton and Calliope. Calliope is selling holiday jewelry, and seems almost like a bit of a hippy. Or at least a disorganized person, when it comes to things other than business and jewelry.

Clayton is a no-nonsense military veteran, and it shows. He’s grumpy about basically everything related to the festival, especially Calliope being in his way.

I loved this story because it reminded me so much of me and my husband. I have no idea how cars work, or what happens to them. I need mechanics to use small words and speak slowly when discussing these things. I also have an amazing husband, like Clayton, who takes great joy in taking care of me. I’m always grateful for him and the fact he loves doing things for me.

This was a story that heated up fairly fast, and I loved the entire ride. I was here for it, and wanted more. I’ve been a fan of Lilah Hart’s instant-love short stories for a while now, but not every one of them is a home run, and part of that is the fact I’ve read so many of her stories, that I often end up comparing each one to my favorites.

But this Wildwood Valley Harvest series really has been a home run all the way through so far, and I’m looking forward to the next two stories. I’m impatiently waiting for them to be published, and I’ll be the first to admit that patience is not one of my strongest personality traits.

Calliope and Clayton were absolutely perfect for each other, and I am so glad that they had a happily ever after story. I found myself rooting for exactly that as I was reading. I also kept reading, and simply couldn’t stop. I had just finished Glacial Mountain Man today, and then started Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey immediately after writing the review.

Now I’m here sharing Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey with you, and trust me when I say, you don’t want to miss this one. It really is just that good. But so is this entire series. You can’t go wrong with any of the stories in the Wildwood Valley Harvest series, in my opinion.

Final Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey

I’m calling Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey a five star read. This is one that I absolutely loved, and I will go back and read a second time in the future.

I’m honestly surprised at how much I have enjoyed this series so far. Because typically there is one story that just doesn’t quite live up to the standard that the others do. But here, I’ve loved each story so far, and want to rave about how great they are.

If you need a good instant-love story to help celebrate autumn approaching, you can’t go wrong with this series, and Mountain Man’s Hayride Honey!
