Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. It is book six in a six part series called Wildwood Valley Christmas. I’ve become an avid fan of Lilah Hart and her short stories. But I will say that my favorites so far have been all of the ones based in Wildwood Valley.
Reading this series has definitely helped to put me in the holiday spirit, and I’m ready to start decorating. The funny thing is that it is ridiculously warm for the Pacific Northwest right now, and it doesn’t seem like the holidays should be right around the corner. But they are.

It has become one of my goals to read all of Lilah Hart’s short stories, and I’m slowly checking them off the list, one by one. This is no easy feat because she has published quite a number of short stories. The sheer volume makes me feel like this is a daunting task. But I am loving it too.
Do you ever find authors where you want to read everything they’ve written? I have several on my list, and it always gives me the greatest feeling of accomplishment when I check another off of each list.
I first discovered Lilah Hart’s short stories when I was searching Amazon for an hour-long romance read that was available via Kindle Unlimited, and that is when I found the Wildwood Valley Brides series. Which is where I was hooked into reading more of her writing. It can be an adventure to search Kindle Unlimited for new authors I’ve never read before. Sometimes that produces great results, and other times it is a disaster. In this case, it was amazing. Because I’ve become such an avid fan of these stories and reading them.
I love a good short story because even on my busiest days, I can devote an hour to reading. Sometimes it is at the beginning or end of the day, and other times it is scattered throughout the day. The chapters are short enough that you can read one during a normal bathroom visit, if all else fails and there is no other time to read. If you don’t think you have time to read, put your phone down, pick up your Kindle, and read one of these short stories. I promise you that there is enough time in one day to start and finish it.
At the time of publishing this review, Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift, and all of Lilah Hart’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited. This makes them more easily accessible to readers without breaking the bank.
Each of Lilah Hart’s short stories can be read as a standalone or as part of any specific series. My obsessive compulsive traits tell me I need to read them all in order once I pick a series, but it isn’t required. You can read each and every story in absolutely any order that you choose.
Have you read Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift? Come on in and let me tell you about it!

“I was finally home. This wasn’t just a fling or a reckless decision. This was my future. And it was going to be beautiful.”

About Wildwood Valley Christmas
When crafters flock to Wildwood Valley’s Christmas Festival, they expect sales and holiday cheer—not six rugged mountain men with hearts as tempting as the town’s twinkling lights. From soap makers to jewelry designers, each woman discovers that love can be handmade too, especially when it comes wrapped in flannel and spoken with a slow mountain drawl. In the Wildwood Valley Christmas series, every booth hides a spark, every kiss feels like a gift, and happily ever after is always in season.
About Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
She came to sell fudge. He demanded black coffee instead.
I came to Wildwood Valley’s Christmas festival to sell my gourmet fudge and test my dream of opening a mountain shop.
I didn’t plan on falling for a grumpy mountain man who demanded black coffee at a hot chocolate booth.
Keaton Reed was everything I should have avoided. Rugged, intense, and way too confident for his own good. The kind of man who made smart women do stupid things.
Like agree to let him help run my booth when a busload of unexpected customers showed up.
Like follow him upstairs at the wrap party for what was supposed to be just dinner and conversation.
Like give him something I’d never given anyone else.
By the time I realized I was falling, it was too late to run. He’d already decided I belonged in his world, in his town, in his life.
The problem? I lived twenty minutes away in Hartsville, had a job there, a whole life I’d built from scratch.
But Keaton wasn’t the kind of man who took no for an answer. And maybe, just maybe, I was ready to stop running from the best thing that had ever happened to me.
Some Christmas gifts change everything.
Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift is an OTT age-gap romance featuring an alpha hero and V-card heroine. It’s a forced proximity ex-military, lumberjack romance with lots of steam that’s designed to be read in only 1 hour. If you like short, steamy instalove novellas, you’ll love the entire Wildwood Valley Harvest series!

Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
“I know we just met yesterday, and this probably sounds crazy, but you’re the most beautiful, fascinating woman I’ve ever met. I’ve spent all afternoon trying to figure out how to tell you that before you head back home.”
Lilah Hart, Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
In Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift we meet Camilla and Keaton.
I’m just going to start by saying that if a peppermint mocha and peppermint fudge is wrong, I have absolutely zero interest in being right. This is the kind of story that makes me crave a peppermint mocha, which is my favorite holiday drink.
Sparks fly when Keaton shows up to Camilla’s booth demanding black coffee and absolutely nothing festive in it. They’re funny together as they banter back and forth in the beginning. But things also heat up quickly between them, and the sparks are soon flying.
This story reminds me of a holiday Christmas special that we all watch on Hallmark every year. It is sweet, loving, fun, and a reminder that unexpected and life changing things happen when you least expect them to.
Final Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
“He kissed me – gentle, sweet, full of promise – and my doubts dissolved. It wasn’t just passion. It was safety, belonging… an unspoken vow.”
Lilah Hart, Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift
I’m calling Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift a five star read. I think this was the most perfect way to end this series, and I’m sad it is ending. I’ve loved every story that is based in Wildwood Valley that I’ve read, and now it is time to move on to another series from Lilah Hart. It almost feels like saying goodbye to an old friend.
I’m also really tempted to go try making peppermint fudge after reading Mountain Man’s Christmas Gift. You can check my recipe blog here and find the recipe once I perfect it. I honestly love when something inspires me to go develop a new recipe, and that happened here. But then again, I’ll take any excuse or inspiration to get out the Christmas decorations and start baking.
