The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim

The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. I first discovered Tiffany Bloom shortly after she started publishing short stories, and I read The Mountain Man’s Hidden Flame. From there, I was totally hooked, and I think her writing has only improved since then.

I love her short stories because they always have a happily ever after ending. I started reading these kinds of stories when I was reading darker novels like Lights Out and others, especially V.C. Andrews novels, and it was the perfect break.

These short romance stories are perfect for busy days, because they can be read in an hour. Even on my busiest days, I can devote an hour to reading. Sometimes it is all at once, and sometimes it is scattered throughout the day. But I can still devote an hour to reading each day.

If you’re struggling to read, try replacing mindless social media doom scrolling with reading. Give it the same amount of time, and just see what happens. You’ll likely be amazed at how much you can read in a day, when you replace a toxic habit with a more productive one. When I get bored, I’ve started picking up my Kindle instead of my phone, and I feel so much better.

At the time of publishing this review for The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim, all of Tiffany Bloom’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited, making them more easily accessible to readers. This is also a great way to utilize a subscription I often forget I have, and helps keep me from wasting my money by being billed for it and not using it.

About The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim

I found her trembling in the trees, all soft curves and terrified eyes. Right then, I knew I’d burn down the world to keep her.

Colt

I’ve pulled bodies from burning wreckage, faced down infernos in collapsed buildings, and built a life in these woods to escape the betrayal that nearly killed me.

But nothing hits like her.

Willow crashes into my world with fear in her bones and nowhere left to run. She’s sunshine-soft and heartbreak-beautiful, all trembling curves and tear-bright eyes.

The second I see her, I know she’s mine to protect. My runaway heroine. Mine to feed. Mine to touch so gently it makes her breath catch, and claim so fully she never runs again.

She doesn’t trust anyone, but I don’t need her trust to keep her safe. I just need her close.
Because whoever hurt her is still out there. And I’ve got a message for him.
He doesn’t get a second chance.

Willow

I wasn’t supposed to make it this far. I saw something I wasn’t supposed to, and now the only plan I have is don’t stop, don’t trust, don’t look back.

Then he stepped out of the trees.

Colt is terrifying to everyone else. He’s taller than the cabin doorway, scarred and massive with a voice like thunder, but when he touches me, I feel safe.

Cherished.

He’s the kind of silent protector you can’t walk away from, the kind of man who stitches your name into his survival jacket like a promise. I should be scared. Instead, I want to stay.

Because somehow, this fierce, quiet mountain man sees me.

And every time he says I’m his, I start to believe I might be worth keeping.

Thoughts on The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim

In The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim we meet Colt and Willow. Colt is a former firefighter with a painful past from firefighting. Willow is running from someone chasing her and who is determined to eliminate her.

Willow packed a bug out bag for survival, but she has no idea how to use any of the gear she packed. She isn’t ready for true running. Luckily she doesn’t have to be because she finds Colt.

What sucked me into The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim is the fact it isn’t just a basic love story with a warm and fuzzy ending. Tiffany Bloom balances danger and tenderness, and it is incredibly powerful, and has so much more depth than most short love stories. If you’ve ever lived in survival mode for any reason, you will identify with Willow. I know I did, and I found myself cheering her on, wanting to see her find that happily ever after, and make the transition from surviving to thriving.

Women glow differently when they are loved, safe, and happy. It is a whole different level of confidence than anything else. Tiffany Bloom managed to write that into this story, and it is obvious. Again, something I could totally identify with and understand. This made it an even more powerful story, and I was hooked from the beginning.

The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim is anything but the average short love story, and I love that fact. I also want friends like Colt’s friends and neighbors. They are the ride or die friends, and everyone needs those.

My only criticism was when Colt found Willow’s stalker who was chasing her, getting rid of him was quick and kind of bland. Granted, it was a short story, and detailing something more brutal, while well deserved, may have detracted from the story. It’s a romance story, not a horror or thriller story. But my inner vindictive psychopath wanted to see something terrible happen to that guy, in brutal and gory details. But, that may also have been suited for a full novel instead of a short story.

Final Thoughts on The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim

I’m calling The Mountain Man’s Silent Claim a five star read. This is one that I will return to reading a second time later on. Which is one of my criteria for a five star read, and it is one that will stick with me long after I’ve moved on to read other stories.

Normally when I read short stories, I simply replace my mindless social media doom scrolling with a few minutes of reading, and go one chapter at a time throughout the day. This story had me on the edge of my seat, needing to binge the entire thing all at once.

I’m still sitting here amazed at how brilliantly Tiffany Bloom balanced danger and tenderness in such a short story, and made me want to read the entire thing all at once. It is clear that she  is an extremely talented author, and I’m excited to see where her stories take me and other readers in the future. Trust me when I say that you don’t want to miss out on her writing.

This is where I’m extremely grateful it only takes an hour to read. Because I had a busy day, and I ended up rearranging my schedule so that I could read the entire thing in one sitting.

Even on my busiest days, I can devote an hour to reading a short story from start to finish. These kinds of stories really are perfect for busy days, because then I’m still reading, finishing a story, and not frustrated by having to stop anywhere in it. Plus that feeling of accomplishment when I finish any book or story, it is something I crave and want to feel daily.

What to Expect from My Stories

My stories bring the heat and the heart. The spice is open-door and full of feeling. Every kiss, every touch, every stolen breath is about connection. Instant. Electric. The kind that knocks you off balance and doesn’t let you go.

I write men who fall fast and love hard: protective, obsessed, and all in from the moment they meet her. And my heroines? They’re smart, flawed, funny, and real. She’s not perfect, but he sees everything she is and walls all of her anyway.

My books are quick escapes, steamy, emotional, and a little addictive. If you’re into instalove, intense connection, and heroes who worship their women, you’re in the right place.
