Glacial Mountain Man
Glacial Mountain Man is the latest short story from author Lilah Hart to be checked off my to be read list. I’ve made it a goal of mine to read everything she’s written, and I’m slowly working my way through the large list of her short stories.
Lately I’ve really been enjoying short stories as I get ready for fall. When I think about fall, I think about hoodies, soup, and football. Given that it is football season, I seem to have less time for reading, and more time to spend in front of the television. This is what makes short stories so perfect.

I’m not giving up reading for football, I’m just shifting how much time I devote to both. Short stories keep me reading and feeling accomplished, while I root for my favorite college and professional teams throughout the fall.
This story is part of a multi-author series called Cold Mountain Nights, and is thirteen stories. They can be read in the series, or as standalone stories from your favorite author. It is totally up to you. In my case, I’m choosing to read this as a standalone from Lilah Hart, and not read the entire series right now. I may go back and read it later, to introduce myself to the other authors in the series, but as of right now, I’m only choosing to read Lilah Hart’s story.
Have you read Glacial Mountain Man? Come on in and let me tell you about it!

About Glacial Mountain Man
Stranded in a blizzard with a gorgeous stranger. Some storms change everything.
I should have checked the weather forecast before leaving South Carolina for my parents’ new mountain home.
Should have pulled over when the snow started falling.
Should have definitely not turned into the driveway of a complete stranger when I couldn’t see the road anymore.
But if I’d done any of those things, I never would have met Tank Williams—more than six feet of pure muscle and ex-military intensity. The kind of man who answers his door shirtless in a blizzard, like hypothermia is just a suggestion.
He was supposed to spend Thanksgiving alone with his turkey and a beer. I was supposed to make it to my parents’ house in one piece. Neither of us was supposed to end up snowed in together for three days, building a fire that had nothing to do with the wood in his fireplace.
Now I’m twenty-three, inexperienced, and completely out of my depth with a man who looks at me like I’m his salvation and his downfall all at once.
The roads will clear eventually.
The question is, will my heart survive when they do?
Thoughts on Glacial Mountain Man
In Glacial Mountain Man we meet Candace and Tank. In one snowstorm, and one person, everything changes for both of them.
I loved reading this story. It sucked me in from the beginning and kept me reading. Tank wasn’t happy about meeting Candace, but that all changed very quickly, and both of them evolved into better versions of themselves along the way, while falling head over heels for each other.
This wasn’t the same as many of the other Lilah Hart short stories that I’ve read prior to Glacial Mountain Man. It was a story about love, evolution, and finding strength and voice.
Final Thoughts on Glacial Mountain Man
I’m calling Glacial Mountain Man a five star read. I loved it, because this wasn’t about a career-obsessed woman who found love instead. It was just about a woman who needed to find herself and the perfect person for her.
Generally speaking, when Lilah Hart writes a story that fits into a series with multiple authors, I don’t read the other stories in the series. Mostly because I rarely have time. My to be read list is big enough as it is, and continues to grow. But if this story is any indication of how good the series is, I will definitely read the others.
It may not have started this way, but it definitely ended with a fairy tale feel and vibe to it, and I enjoyed that immensely. Part of this may be the fact that I’m reading a horror novel as well, and not a fan. This was my break from that, and a return to sanity.
I will also go back and read Glacial Mountain Man a second time down the road. Whenever I want to remind myself that true love really can exist, and be grateful for my husband as well.
Glacial Mountain Man makes the nineteenth short story from Lilah Hart that I’ve read, and this one may very well be my favorite of them all. I always find it hard to pick a favorite, but this definitely ranks in the top five, at the very least.
