Her Jolly Billionaire

Her Jolly Billionaire is the latest Lilah Hart short story to be checked off my to be read list. It is book four in a six part series called Billionaires of Pleasure Valley, which is easily one of my favorite series from her.

Ever since I read the Wildwood Valley Brides series this summer, I’ve been hooked on LIlah Hart’s short stories. Each one can be read in about an hour, which is perfect when I am busy, but still want to read.

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, then you likely already know how much I love a good short story. It has become one of my goals to read everything that Lilah Hart has written, and I’m slowly making my way through her list of stories. Do you have a favorite author you want to read everything from? I have several on my list, and that is one of my goals for the new year.

At the time of publishing this review, Her Jolly Billionaire, and all of Lilah Hart’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited. This makes them easily accessible to most readers without breaking the bank. At this time of year, that is more important than ever.

About Her Jolly Billionaire

She didn’t fit his perfect formula for love. He fell for her anyway.

I never expected to meet the man of my dreamsH at a cookie swap.

Nicholas—billionaire CEO, data genius, and the kind of man who tracked cookie consumption rates at a community party like it was a Fortune 500 board meeting.

He was looking for a redhead. A data whisperer who could save his failing analytics company.

He got me instead. Brunette. Brilliant. And completely wrong for him according to every metric that mattered.

Except he had a spreadsheet. An actual spreadsheet where he rated the women he dated—intelligence, appearance, long-term potential. Like we were products to be optimized. Variables in an equation he was determined to solve.

I should have walked away right then.

But there was something about the way he looked at me. The way his brain worked, finding patterns in chaos. The way he used humor to hide the loneliness I recognized because I’d felt it too.

He didn’t check any of my boxes either. Too confident. Too rich. Too ready to quantify everything, including love.

And yet, when he touched me, all that data disappeared.

Her Jolly Billionaire is an OTT age-gap holiday romance featuring an alpha hero and V-card heroine. It’s a grumpy sunshine Christmas romance with lots of steam that’s designed to be read in only 1 hour. If you like short, steamy instalove novellas, you’ll love the entire Billionaires of Pleasure Valley series!

Thoughts on Her Jolly Billionaire

“Are you seriously data mining a cookie swap right now?”

Lilah Hart, Her Jolly Billionaire

In Her Jolly Billionaire we meet Nicholas and Danika.

Nicholas needs Danika’s help to save his company. She is supposedly known as the “data whisperer.” She really is smart, and knows her stuff, and agrees to help Nicholas.

Things heat up very quickly in this story, and I wasn’t sure if it was going to become a disaster or a happily ever after, because business and relationships shouldn’t mix. Is it possible to mix and have a happy ending? I had to keep reading to find out!

My one big complaint in this story is that I dislike tech talk, and anything related to analytics. It just feels sterile to me. I felt the same way about Love at First Latte. It was too sterile. But that is just me. Maybe because I’m not a tech kind of person. I struggled to really be invested in the characters as they discussed spreadsheets.

Despite me not liking that aspect of the story, it was clear that Nicholas and Danika were indeed perfect for each other. So it still gave me the happy ending that I wanted. There was no denying their connection, even though I couldn’t connect with them.

Final Thoughts on Her Jolly Billionaire

“She walked away, leaving me standing there with my warm gin and tonic, my cookie spreadsheet, and the distinct feeling that I’d just met someone who was going to turn my entire world upside down.”

Lilah Hart, Her Jolly Billionaire

I’m calling Her Jolly Billionaire a four star read. Mostly because I wouldn’t read it again, but I still enjoyed it. It simply wasn’t my favorite in the series, and part of that is because I’ve read enough of Lilah Hart’s short stories to have favorites and to compare them.

Trust me when I say that it is still a great short story. I went to look at reviews after I read it, as I usually do, and most of the ratings are five stars, with just a few being four, and nothing less. Which says other readers agree with me.

I’m really enjoying the Billionaires of Pleasure Valley series, and I’m excited to read book five next.

Today it was a tropical sixty-three degrees outside, with the sun shining, in December. I went to sit on the porch and read this book. I found myself upset that it was over and I had to come inside the house to write this review and publish it. But this was the perfect afternoon read outside on the porch while enjoying the gorgeous weather.
