Mountain Man’s Holiday Home

Mountain Man’s Holiday Home is the latest short story from author Lilah Hart to be checked off my to be read list. I first discovered Lilah Hart when I read her Wildwood Valley Brides series, and I was hooked from the start.

Mountain Man’s Holiday Home is the first in a new series called Wildwood Valley Christmas, and is the third series she has written to be set in the location of Wildwood Valley. Which I have to admit, I’m always excited to see her stories be set there, because I’ve enjoyed every single story there so far. It’s a fun fictitious place to escape to.

When I first found Lilah Hart and her stories, I was searching Amazon for stories that could be read in an hour. At the time of publishing this review, all of her stories are available via Kindle Unlimited, making them even more easily accessible to readers like me.

This is also a huge asset to helping me utilize my Kindle Unlimited subscription instead of paying for it month after month but forgetting it exists.

These kinds of short stories are perfect for busy days, because they can be read in an hour. Even on my busiest day, I can devote an hour to reading. Sometimes it is scattered throughout the day, and other times it is all at once before bed, when things have finally settled down.

If you don’t think you can find time to read a short story, put your phone down and pick up your Kindle. Seriously, give it a try. Replace mindless social media doom scrolling with a few minutes of reading here and there through the day. You’ll actually be amazed at how much you can read! I know I was.

These are also great stories for reading right before bedtime. If you’ve ever played fast and loose with the “just one more chapter” game, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. This prevents that from happening.

Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Holiday Home

In Mountain Man’s Holiday Home we meet Lainey and Hendrix. Lainey has returned home for a couple of weeks to help her brother with the family Christmas tree farm. Hendrix is an old military buddy and just passing through town.

Neither of them intend to stay. But will their connection be worth a change in plans? Will they build a life together here? Or will Luca interrupt the entire thing by trying to protect his little sister?

I love the connection between Lainey and Hendrix here in Mountain Man’s Holiday Home. It is so sweet and caring. They took a huge risk by staying in Wildwood Valley to build their relationship, and that risk paid off. This story had so much heart in it, and was relatable. I loved the character development for such a short story.

Final Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Holiday Home

I’m calling Mountain Man’s Holiday Home a 5 star read. This was the perfect introduction to the Wildwood Valley Christmas series. I am excited for the rest of the stories in this series, and I’m ready to start decorating for Christmas, even though we aren’t quite there yet. I really want to get into the season and decorate early. This story is a great way to kick off the holiday season.

This was the perfect story to read today. It is starting to cool down in my little corner of the globe, and I love the sun mixed with crisp fall air. I’m house and puppy sitting this week, so I’ve been curled up in a camping chair on the porch with the puppies in my lap reading this story.

I’ve been slowly checking off Lilah Hart’s stories from my to be read list, and there are some that I will go back and read again and again, and this is definitely one of those. I’ve come to the conclusion that my favorite fictitious location that her stories are based in is Wildwood Valley. I love watching all of the characters in these stories come to find happiness, love, and develop roots and community, and traditions here in Wildwood Valley.
