Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress
Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. This is the sixth and final short story in the Wildwood Valley Brides series from author Lilah Hart.
It has become one of my goals to read all of Lilah Hart’s short stories, and I’m always excited to check another one off my list.

I’ve come to really enjoy Lilah Hart’s short stories. They are perfect to read when I find my attention span is too short for a full novel. This prevents me from falling into a reading slump. Summer is a super busy time for all of us, and this series has kept me reading through all of the craziness.
Have you read Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress? Come on in and let me tell you about it!

About Wildwood Valley Brides
Welcome to Wildwood Valley, where the mountains are rugged, the men are rough, and the women are…missing.
This quiet mountain town has a problem: too many single ex-Navy SEALs and not a single woman in sight. The guys prefer it that way—until a nosy innkeeper secretly signs them up for a mail-order bride service.
One by one, the brides start arriving—sweet, sassy, wide-eyed women who have no idea just how off-the-grid and alpha their new husbands really are.
The mountain men didn’t ask for wives.
But that won’t stop them from keeping them.
About Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress
She came to Wildwood Valley to marry a stranger. She just didn’t expect to fall for the wrong mountain man.
I thought I was signing up to marry a rugged mountain man named Blade—the strong, silent type who stole my heart through a screen.
But when I rolled into Wildwood Valley, suitcase in hand and hope in my chest, I was met with one complication: the man I fell for wasn’t the man I was meant to marry.
Trey was supposed to be a harmless prank. A stand-in. A jokester logging crew guy helping his matchmaking aunt play cupid. But somewhere between the sweet messages, the teasing banter, and the night we watched a movie under the stars, I stopped falling for a name—and started falling for him.
This isn’t the love story I expected.
But it just might be the one I was made for.
Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress
In this story, we meet Trey and Lauryn. There wasn’t much of a backstory for Lauren here. Trey’s aunt is Bobbi, the meddling innkeeper in this series. It is no surprise that Trey is helping his aunt, and ended up falling for Lauren.
I thought their relationship was cute. Trey really went out of his way to pay attention to details and make things special for Lauren. But Trey isn’t who he claims to be. Which is a bit confusing in the story. I wasn’t sure if Blade was another person, or a fake name, or what was going on. It wasn’t as clear as I thought it should be.
The romance in the story was different than I was expecting. They didn’t get married right away, as the couples in all of the other stories have. They took their time. It gave a completely different vibe than the others. I wasn’t sure if they were going to, or I was going to get the happily ever after that I wanted it to be.
I thought the same thing when I read Scythe and Sparrow, that the vibe was totally different than the first two books, and I haven’t decided if I liked or disliked that aspect of it. But Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress is still a good story, and worth the time to read.
Final Thoughts on Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress
I’m calling Mountain Man’s Mail Order Temptress a four star read. It wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it definitely wasn’t the worst either. It wasn’t as sterile as the previous story in this series, but it wasn’t as memorable as I had wanted it to be either. I needed more character development to really love it.
Looking back on this specific series, it was my introduction to Lilah Hart’s writing, and she has certainly captured my attention with her short stories. I will be continuing to read more as I move on to other series that she has previously written. I’m interested to see where her writing continues to take me in the future.
As I think and look back, I found myself liking Bobbi more and more as the series went on. Yes, she was meddling and lying to everyone, but she certainly had good intentions, and it turned out very well for everyone involved. I’m also happy that she had more of a role in this story.
I’ve also found myself wishing that this series would continue with more stories about the characters I’ve met in these six stories. I’ve really enjoyed them. But this is the end of the road for this specific series. But not the end of the road for me reading Lilah Hart stories. Keep an eye out in my blog, because I will be reading more in the future to share with you.
