Red Velvet and Reindeer
Red Velvet and Reindeer is the second of a two part series from author Bella Falls. The first in the series was Lemonade and Love Potions, and that was my first introduction to this author.

“Sometimes in the South near Christmas time,
The weather gets confused and begins to climb
Instead of snow, a winter’s norm,
The bright sun makes everything a bit too warm
We still celebrate the holiday with joyous glee
But instead of hot cocoa, we drink sweet tea
So grab your libation and take a seat
And enjoy this little holiday treat!”

About Red Velvet and Reindeer
Ho Ho Ho, and welcome to Honeysuckle Hollow, where magic and mystery are only part of the Southern Charms…
‘Tis the season for some festive fun and a little mischief with Charli Goodwin and her friends and family. Because of the warm Southern sun, they have to drink sweet tea instead of hot cocoa to cool down. But when a surprise visitor who is not so jolly shows up on her doorstep asking for some help to save Christmas, will she and her friends be able to help save the holiday in time?
Charli will have to go on an international adventure, using all of her tracking talents and a little of Santa’s magic to help solve the mystery before it’s too late.
Cut yourself a slice of red velvet cake and get cozy for a fun Southern Charms Christmas mystery in Red Velvet & Reindeer!
Thoughts on Red Velvet and Reindeer
“Forgive my quick and clumsy rhyme, but we summon power at this time. Santa’s power is at an end, so I need to assist my friend. We found Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen. Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. Around the world we’ve been all night, but we need the last one to get this right. Where he is, not one person knows. With Christmas Magic, bring us to his shiny red nose.”
Red Velvet and Reindeer
I love the title of this short story, mostly because I love a good red velvet cake. I figured if someone was going to weave that into a story, it was probably worth reading.
“Tonight, honor the past but make the present your own.”
Red Velvet and Reindeer
One of the things I find fun and cute about Bella Falls’ stories is the lack of swearing. Our main character, Charli, says things like “pixie poop!” instead of the standard “oh shit” that most people say.
In this story we go on a trip around the world with Charli and Santa, as they try to find all of the reindeer. They have personalities, and that really makes for a fun read.
Final Thoughts on Red Velvet and Reindeer
I am a big fan of short stories, especially ones that keep me entertained for 30 minutes of my day. I love reading them in the morning instead of the newspaper, and at night instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media. A great short story like Red Velvet and Reindeer is a far more productive and relaxing way to spend my time.
Bella Falls writes really cute and fun stories, I’ve discovered. She has a full series of novels that I am planning on reading as well, because Honeysuckle Hollow sounds like a fun and magical place to visit.
“But I can’t do this without my point reindeer. If it were any of the others, I might have been able to pull it off. But I need Rudolph, and he knows it, too. It’s why he’s the diva of the bunch.”
Red Velvet and Reindeer
Red Velvet and Reindeer was such a fun and memorable short story. It is definitely my favorite out of the two in this series.

About the Author
Bella Falls grew up on the magic of sweet tea, barbecue, and hot and humid Southern days. She met her husband at college over an argument about how to properly pronounce the word pecan (for the record, it should be pea-cawn, and they taste amazing in a pie).
Although she’s had the privilege of living all over the States and the world, her heart still beats to the rhythm of the cicadas on a hot summer’s evening.
Now, she’s taken her love of the South and woven it into a world where magic and mystery aren’t the only Charms.
