Rugged Mountain Man
Rugged Mountain Man is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. This is book five in a six part series from Lilah Hart called Seduction Summit Lumberjacks.
I originally discovered Lilah Hart and her writing when I read her Wildwood Valley Brides series. I was searching Amazon for romance stories that could be read in an hour, and that was what popped up.

At the time of publishing this review, all of Lilah Hart’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited. This is what prompted me to give her writing a try. I was already paying for KU, and wouldn’t be wasting any real time or money, given that her stories are only an hour to read. So why not?
I found I absolutely enjoyed and loved her stories. They are the perfect instant-love, happily ever after ending that I wanted and craved. I started reading more and more of her stories, which led me to this series, Seduction Summit Lumberjacks, and Rugged Mountain Man.
Have you read Rugged Mountain Man? Come on in and let me tell you about it!

About Seduction Summit Lumberjacks
A national baking competition has come to the Seduction Summit Lodge, bringing aspiring bakers from all over the country. For six contestants, sweets aren’t the only thing on the menu. The logging crew nearby is stocked with hot lumberjacks who have no interest in finding love…until it sneaks up on them.
About Rugged Mountain Man
He loves his life as a loner. But meeting a beautiful baker just might change everything.
Winning this national baking competition is everything.
I love my job, but it’s not what I thought it would be. I want to create. These days, I’m only happy when I’m making pies and cupcakes.
But when I make the finals in the competition, I find myself needing a break. Just for a couple of hours. And when I meet a hunky mountain man at the lodge bar, I realize he might just give me the escape I need.
Thoughts on Rugged Mountain Man
In Rugged Mountain Man we meet Willow and Liam. I was drawn into this story from the start, and I love that it focuses more on Liam and his backstory, but Willow’s future at the same time. It is an interesting mix of the past, present, and future.
I’m also a big fan of the fact Lilah Hart touches on veterans and their service, and the challenges they face returning to civilian life after being deployed. It wasn’t depressing, but it was serious.
I felt the feelings when Liam volunteered to invest in Willow’s baking business. He clearly saw that she had talent, despite having just met her. He’s taking a chance, obviously, but that is awesome. It is amazing when you have someone who believes in you more than you likely believe in yourself.
The spice/sex/smut/whatever you want to call it isn’t super prominent in this one. Yes, it is there, and it is good. But that isn’t the focus of this story. This one is more real, and I loved that. I love seeing a real relationship forming, that involves talking about the future, making dreams come true, and everything deep.
Final Thoughts on Rugged Mountain Man
I’m calling Rugged Mountain Man a five star read. I really enjoyed it, and would actually come back and read it a second time later down the road. I’m hoping that in the final story, I get to learn more about her business and really watch it get off the ground.
I’m reading this in the summer, and summer is busy. I want to be outside, there are family events to be at, and a whole list of things to do. Short stories like this keep me reading. I don’t know about anyone else, but they certainly keep me reading. I take my Kindle everywhere with me, and pull it out whenever I have a few minutes and read a chapter. This prevents me from falling into a reading slump.
I pull out my Kindle when I’m standing in a line for coffee, at a drive-through, or even when I’m riding on the bus. It’s great for when you’re stuck waiting in the school pickup line to pick your kids up each day. I love when there are stories that capture my attention more than mindlessly doomscrolling social media.
If you don’t think you have time to read, replace your phone with your Kindle, read a chapter that only takes five minutes, and see how much you can actually read in a day. You’ll be surprised, trust me. You’ll also likely notice that you feel better after reading one of these stories instead of reading depressing and snarky comments on social media where people just argue with each other.
