“I am being watched. This is not the first time. My stalker is smart, just like I would be.”

About Stalker Stalked

Lexi Mazur is a depressed, alcoholic, pill-popper whose only joy has become her reality TV shows, often fantasizing that the people on TV are a part of her world. After her boyfriend Steve leaves her, she fixates on the show Socialites and its star Magnolia Artois, following every facet of the girl’s life on social media in the hopes of befriending and becoming more like her.

But stalking isn’t new to Lexi. She ultimately won over her ex Steve by following and manipulating every minute detail about him so he’d fall for her. In fact, she landed her other ex-boyfriend Jeremy in the same way. Being a pharma rep, she’s used to manipulation to get doctors to buy her drugs, along with the perk of saving pills for herself.

But what happens when the stalker gets stalked?

Recently, Lexi has felt someone watching her: in her apartment in Queens, at her job. At first, she thinks her mind’s playing tricks, but the watcher is behaving just like she would. And soon they begin leaving threatening clues like she starts to do to Magnolia once her obsession grows more dangerous.

Is it one of her exes out for revenge? Her only real friend from childhood who she’s always had an unhealthy rivalry? A detective who may have figured her out? The reality star Magnolia trying to turn the tables? Or even someone she might not know?

Lexi learns the only way to beat her stalker is to use her own stalking prowess to outsmart them at their own game. But has she finally met her match?

Thoughts on Stalker Stalked

“I got you in my sights… forever.”

Stalker Stalked

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Stalker Stalked, having never read anything from Lee Matthew Goldberg before. But I wasn’t disappointed, and I love that!

The plot twists were actually kind of impressive to me. The fact Lexi pops pills like candy or TicTacs made me think that her being stalked was totally in her head.

Having recently dealt with a pill popper and their delusions that ended our friendship, this made sense to me. That it was all in Lexi’s head, and the pills made her see things that aren’t there. This made the plot twists a lot more surprising.

My favorite part is when Lexi hit rock bottom and actually admitted it and owned her experience. That was very real and impressive.

Stalker Stalked is a very real and raw novel, much like Two Turtle Doves, that addresses the true issues behind addiction and substance abuse. I appreciate that because it isn’t something that is talked about nearly enough. I don’t know if that was Lee Matthew Goldberg’s intent with this novel, but I definitely appreciate it.

Final Thoughts on Stalker Stalked

“The only roles you know are abuser, abused, stalker, stalked, ect. You are comfortable in these roles because you don’t have to reveal your true self. And she scares you.”

Stalker Stalked

I am glad I had the opportunity to read Stalker Stalked from author Lee Matthew Goldberg. It is a great novel that is definitely worth the time to read!

When I was done with this novel, it made me look back on my personal friendship with the pill popper that recently ended. I felt sadness because this is someone who will never admit they have a problem, or take the necessary steps toward rehab or overcoming the obstacle of addiction.

That fact made me want to root for Lexi’s trip to rehab and seeking the treatment she desperately needed. Because I think everyone deserves a second chance at a good life, and I want to see everyone live their best life. But these are steps each person has to take on their own accord.

The fact it is so relatable to me made this book even more of a great read, because there was that personal factor. As I said earlier, Stalker Stalked is the first novel I’ve read from author Lee Matthew Goldberg, but I doubt it will be my last.

I am going to go check out his other work and see what captures my attention. I love it when I can find an author that I enjoy reading all of their work and get excited for new novels. I’m hoping Lee Matthew Goldberg’s writing is that way for me.

This seems like such a crazy and good read. I love psychology and thrillers and that’s the vibes I get from this review. I’ve never heard of this book or the author, but I’m glad you introduced me.

Both this book and the author Lee Matthew Goldberg I hadn’t heard of prior to reading this post. I love plots that occur within plots and the idea of a stalker being stalked sounds like a great basis for a fascinating story. It was really interesting to read your own personal parallel you found from the book to someone you interacted with in your own life. I agree that the only way out for that person will be for them to want to seek help and hopefully, this will be the case at some point.

Stalker Stalked really was fascinating, Nicole! I love books that really get me thinking about my own personal experiences too. Sometimes it really helps with the healing process, and I wasn’t expecting that.
