Untamed Mountain Man
Untamed Mountain Man is the latest short story to be checked off my to be read list. This is story four in a six part series called Seduction Summit Lumberjacks. This can be read as a standalone, or in the series order. It doesn’t matter.
I recently discovered Lilah Hart when I read the Vildwood Valley Brides series. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it gave me a break in between heavier novels that I needed. This inspired me to start reading everything she has written, and I’m slowly but surely checking them all off the list.

At the time I’m publishing this review, all of Lilah Hart’s short stories are available via Kindle Unlimited. This is an excellent way for me to utilize my subscription more often, as that has been one of my goals. Why not use something I pay money for as much as I can?

About Seduction Summit Lumberjacks
A national baking competition has come to the Seduction Summit Lodge, bringing aspiring bakers from all over the country. For six contestants, sweets aren’t the only thing on the menu. The logging crew nearby is stocked with hot lumberjacks who have no interest in finding love…until it sneaks up on them.
About Untamed Mountain Man
She dares him to take the polar plunge. By the end of it, he’s ready to take another kind of plunge with her…but can he convince her to stay in town once the weekend’s over?
I need to get away.
I’m a finalist in the national banking competition, so I should be ready to celebrate. But gloating over my victory seems wrong when those who didn’t make the finals are forced to have dinner with us.
So I go for a walk to an empty lift ticket building. There, I run into the super-sexy lumberjack I spotted at the bar in the restaurant last night. As it turns out, he spotted me too. And soon, we’re escaping together.
Thoughts on Untamed Mountain Man
In Untamed Mountain Man we meet Macy and Beau. Macy has made it into the top three of the baking competition. Which is something we haven’t seen before. Everyone in previous stories have been losers in the competition and just wanted to escape being stuck there to watch the rest of it.
Beau is a bit boring in his backstory. Dude stole a pack of cigarettes when he was thirteen and townspeople still whisper about him and stare. And apparently he still cares. His joining the military didn’t improve the opinions of these random strangers either. Macy also still cares about what people think of her. She’s annoyed she’s never done anything worth going viral about on social media.
I found myself a bit annoyed with these two characters. This was supposed to be an instant-love story, and it came closer to instant-depression for a little bit, and I wasn’t a fan. But I also read Lilah Hart’s stories for the happily ever after/super cheesy romantic aspect.
It does get better the more I read, but the beginning was tedious, to say the least. This may very well be the first time I’ve found myself annoyed by the characters in a Lilah Hart short story. Although I will also admit that patience is not my strongest personality trait, and so I wanted the warm fuzzies from start to finish.
I will say that the fact it did get better is what redeemed this one for me. But it is still forgettable, and that is why I’m glad I have my blog to remind me what I’ve read and what I thought about it.
Final Thoughts on Untamed Mountain Man
I’m calling Untamed Mountain Man a three star read. There was nothing egregiously wrong with it, but the characters were boring enough that it is forgettable.
It starts off kind of lame, but it does get better. But I needed strong characters all the way through it. It seems like every time I find one I really enjoy and would read again, the next one is complete shit in comparison. Which may very well be because I’ve read so many of her stories by now, and it is easy to pick a favorite in the series.
I’m also noticing that there is always one story in each series that seems to lack the quality and strength that all the others have. This doesn’t necessarily make it a bad story. It just isn’t my favorite, and I’m definitely comparing it to the others in this specific series.
I would say don’t let my less than stellar opinion of this specific story keep you from reading it. It simply may be that I expected this story to be on par with the previous one, and that didn’t happen, therefore I wasn’t a fan.
